52 Card Challenge UK Scrappers - Week 42

This week, Nat set the challenge as autumnal colours - a very different thing is happening here in Queensland in Australia - it is heating up and getting set to fry us in summer.

As per the previous post, I found some ancient stripey paper that came in a magazine, together with the leaf pattern on the other side.  I try to set myself challenges as to ways to produce an end result that is pleasing - in this case, I really didn't like the original papers.

I found an old die cut in my stash in matching brown tones and some lovely velvet ribbon.  I turned again to my favourite Curly Cute sentiments from Stampin' Up! and gold embossed around the edge.  Liberal mistings and dollops of gold mist together with faux stitching and distressing add more interest and texture.  The bronze sequins really do sparkle IRL and add lots of interest.  Very reminiscent of a beautiful autumnal day in England with the crunchy and variegated leaves underfoot, turning to mush and mould with dampness and the inevitable rain.

I got a couple more cards from the same paper and am now pleased to say that I've used it up - I do still have some leaves left and sometimes I wish I was ruthless enough to throw the remainder away - it would certainly relieve a lot of the clutter! However, I do know that I enjoy these kinds of challenges, and it does kind of justify the stash build-up .... (maybe?)

Supplies:
Stripe and Leaf patterned paper - unknown
Brown die cut
Bronze sequins
Tan velvet ribbon
Curly Cute sentiment stamps - Stampin' Up!
Gold Embossing powder
Cosmic Shimmer mist - Antique Gold
CTMH ink - Autumn Terracotta
Project Life journalling pen - brown

I'm not game enough to count how many cards I am down now - we shall have to wait and see how we go, to see if I can complete this years' cards .... thanks for visiting here today.

UK Scrappers 52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 15

Week 15 - All creatures great and small,  was the challenge for that particular week.  Not really a clever interpretation, but at least a bird is an animal!

It was Lily's 3rd birthday on Sunday and here is her card.

Before leaving the UK, I stamped out lots of these images from a freebie set of stamps Tara acquired - they are adorable, and stamp really well for a free set of magazine stamps.

I got out my Promarkers and coloured in the bird, the border of the journalling plate, and the flowers.  Lots of glitter over the flowers and the bird.

Supplies:
Miss Nelly patterned paper - Kaisercraft
Promarkers
Freebie magazine stamps, "Curly Cute" Stampin' Up!, alphabet and number stamps by Image Tree
Doodlebug Fancy Frills glitter hearts
Lagoon ink - Close to My Heart

Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Lily. x

I really like this card, though it did cause me a few head-scratching moments and took longer to execute than it should.

I made her a batch of cards as a little present, so I will be back to share those when I've had a chance to upload.  Thanks for your visit! :)
